My daughter is 18 months old. She gets angry driving in the car for too long or when she is in the car and is hungry or tired. Also shet gets mad if I make her sit the entire dinner with us in her highchair since she eats so fast, she is usally done before us. She also gets frustrated if she is in her crib and not asleep yet. She gags herself (with her own finger) until she pukes. I am not going to let her sleep/sit in puke so I can't just leave her there.
Her doctor laughed at me and said "hahahaha she is starting young, don't worry about it she'll get over it."
I can't take the kind of answer, it is just not good enough for me...what do I do?

How do you react when she does it? She may continue to gag herself because it's the one sure-fire way to get a reaction from you. Just try not to say anything the next time she does it. Clean her up, and move on with your day. Eventually she should get the picture that gagging does NOT equal attention.
As for the actions leading up to the gagging...Well, thats entirely up to you. If you know she's going to be cranky/hungry/tired, avoid going out until her needs are taken care of. Try getting some coloring books or special toys that are "just for dinner" that she can entertain herself with while waiting for you guys to finish eating..
Stay strong, and know that this, too, shall pass. =)

Some kids just want everything thier way or the highway. Be strong, she WILL get over it if you stay in control. You are doing a good thing by maintaining boundries (everyone sits at the table until everyone is finished) She wil learn, maybe give her a toy to play with until it's time to be excused. She has found a way to get your attention with the puking. She is smart and knows she can get to you. Try reading a story before bed to calm her, or keeping her up a little later when she is more tired and can fall asleep faster.

If she pukes in bed, go in there clean her up and her bed up without saying anything to her, ignore her if she tries to get your attention, tell her to go back to sleep and walk away. She does it for your attention because she knows it will bother you, ignore the behavior. If she does it again go in and clean it up. Dont worry about her getting hungry in the night, a couple of times when she notices you dont get her the attention, she should stop. Dont let her put her hands in her mouth during the day either. when she does that punish her im talking about the gaging to make herself puke. It is just away to get attention whatever attention she can get. Is there a reason she feels like she isn't getting enough attention?? I;m not trying to be mean but this is what it looks like to me and it could be just a stage to. Don't worry to much about it.

Maybe when your daughter is finished eating, give her a toy to play with to keep her company till you guys are done as well. And in the car as well. Maybe if your daughter becomes more happy she won't think of gaging herself.

she is doing it to get a reaction out of you she will grow out of it but you do need to let her know that is not going to be tolerated try putting mittens on her hands so she can't do it. every times she does clean her up and put her in time out. its hard but try not to reacted to it just calmly tell her as you are cleaning it up that every time you do this you will have to sit in the corner and no toys. she will catch on and stop, (just in time to learn a new trick) good luck

just like hold her hands down so she can't gag herself, or make her wear tiny oven mits, so she cant reach her uvula to gag herself, if she tries to choke herself she will pass out before she holds her breath to long

you should calm her down some and put her in time out and if she gags herself then dont be afraid to smack her butt and soon she will learn not to do that any more.

It sounds like you need a new doctor, that was unprofessional. Any doctor who says that is no doctor.

put her in time out every time she does it!She knows it bothers you but if you put her in time out and not yell or flip she might think of a new way that is not so gross!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
