He is so jealous of you. If you didn't sing good, then how did you get the lead role in the musical? He wants you to have low confidence in yourself, so you mess up. He wants you to believe him that you can't sing, and then quit, so he can get the part.

just sing in front of him and his friends then he will forget it
or come up and ask him if he can sing any better if he doesn't answer then say i thought so
