No. I'm not an enlightened yogi. Striving to be one though.
But u dont have to practice ''yoga'' only , to get enlightened.
Meditation is Universal. No religion or faith
is involved in it.
So the devout 'christians' can rest in peace that if they practice meditation, their faith is at stake [refer earlier comments of some people here].
You can keep yr religion / belief intact & yet get enlightenment. Understanding This ,is the very first step towards it. Secondly,
You havent yet met someone who is enlightened cause yr karma has yet to develop.....to merit such a meeting.
Wn the time is ripe & u desperately wish it, u just might come across one. But then, i hope u are able to ''recognise'' one , when u meet an enlightened being.
Thirdly, one need not necessarily reach this state before they die in this birth/life .....May be at the ''very moment'' of death, one does get briefly enlightened .

Yes. But this state is not just achieved through the practise of physical yoga postures. The poses that we practise in yoga helps the practioner better prep for meditation. It is through meditation that enlightenment is achieved. The process through which enlightenment is achieved takes life times. It is a process of continuous improvement where we learn lessons from one life to the next. Meditation speeds up this learning process.
Read "The Autobiography of a Yogi". I believe you'll find your answers there. The Yogi talks about his quest for guru and enlightenment and the Saints that he met along his way.

Enlightenment is not something that is reached, but is strived for. Like Aerosmith said, "life's a journey, not a destination."
I feel like I've come close before, but rationally I'm certain that was just an illusion. Knowing and even groking that "everything is at the same time seperate and connected" is a good start, but my guess is that total enlightenment is understanding how quantum and Newtonian physics are connected, plus the answers to questions we haven't even thought to ask yet.

It may be a difficult thing to do. Perhaps it would be easier to find out by asking someone who is believed to be enlightened, even if they may not label themselves as such. Have you ever asked your questions to a Roman Catholic Cardinal (for instance)?

if evolution teaches that we are still evolving then it cannot be possible to reach total enlightenment, looks like I will stick to Christianity.
