What convinced you that Christianity was true?

Question

I read someone say that they were convinced because it says God sent his only son to die for sins.

How is that convincing?

***Not bashing, just really, really curious***

How does that convince you that the guy is the son of God?

How does that convince you that his death cleansed sins?

How does that convince you that this god sent its son because it loved the world?

How does that convince you that this god exists?

Biology class convinced me of God. There is no way the human body (or any organism) could be so complex if a higher power had not designed it.

However, I really have no such proof that Jesus was the son of God. IF you believe in the Bible (I do, but many do not nowadays), then all you have to do is read about all of His miracles. But if you don't believe the stories in the Bible, it is kind of hard to prove that Jesus is the son of God.

I read about how to become God's friend and how Jesus would give me the comforter if I followed the directions given. When I followed the instructions I had a supernatural experience. That experience left me with a change. It was a positive change and anyone who knew me could tell. For me the change was pretty spectacular, perhaps because the instant the door was opened I continued repeatedly to ask for more, and I received more until I think I blacked out anyway at some point I came to myself and felt extrememly good and energetic and have never been the same since.

There is way more to it but I think this answers your question.

Well... yeah, just a document saying something isn't necessarily "convincing" ... but my experience is that every real Christain has a unique experience that has shaken the core of their being, at least on some level. Some of these stories are dramatic ("I was about to die") and some not so dramatic ("it just was the only thing that made sense") to the almost surreal ("They prayed for me and my cancer was healed")

Lots of questions in this question... For me, it comes back to Josh McDowell's argument: Jesus was either Lord, Liar, Lunatic, or Legend.

Legend--wasn't true, didn't happen... but there is so much historical support (both inside and outside Christianity)

Lunatic -- was off his rocker... but there is so much recognition outside of the followers to support that he was sane

Liar -- told un-true stories... many people die for a lie, but few people will die for a lie knowing it is a lie... yet Jesus died. He believed it!

Lord -- the only one left...

I haven't taken enough time to explore this line of reasoning here, but it's a start.

The Truth is written on everyone's heart.
Nothing "convinced" me. I just know it's true, it's on my heart, I just choose to accept it.
Others choose to run from it. But when you're running from the truth you are unhappy.
The only way to truly be happy is to accept the truth, and the truth is this, that there is one God who created the heavens and the earth, Who IS God, Who sent His son to die for us. Because the wages of sin is death, we were all doomed to die but Christ took that punishment on himself, living a life free of sin so that He could be the perfect sacrifice. And now we have a chance to be free from sin, to have eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord.

How am I convinced of that? It's written on my heart.
It is written on everyone's heart. :)

For me (and many others) the convincing comes once someone asks Jesus to be their Lord and Savior. Something spiritual happens on the inside and you know that you've been forgiven and adopted by God. Try it! In the privacy of your own room or even in the shower, ask Jesus Christ to forgive you of all your sins and to be your Lord and Savior. You've got nothing to lose.

Other than that, convincing also comes by watching how God changes murderous criminals into God-loving people. Or by seeing people doped up on drugs become college graduates because they asked God to take control of their lives. Or by watching how He continually changes us from the inside out sometimes without us even trying.

And finally, convincing comes from reading bible prophecies and watching them come to life (or start to) on national news.

Honestly, for you, I think convincing will come once you ask Jesus Christ to forgive you of all your sins and to be your Lord and Savior. Do it in private and nobody will have to know (although you'll probably want them to know afterwards).

"Faith comes from hearing, and hearing the word of God"

-Through the gospel that I have heard and received, and the Lord has convicted me and sent His Spirit to show me the truth....now, everyday it becomes more clear just how real God is, and the gospel makes more sense than anything else, and the love of Jesus, no one can take place of. God is truly awesome!

My reason was simple. Upon looking at all of the evidence...

The cowardly disciples changed from frightened scardy-cats to being willing to die for what they saw. If Jesus Christ wasn't raised from the dead, if it weren't true, Peter, the other disciples, and the rest of the early Christians, would have remained silent to protect themselves from persecution, torture, and death!

And those deaths...for all of the 12 except St. John....were pretty grisly.

Well my life changed completely after putting my faith in God, I went from childhood dreams of being a professional assassin to serving and loving God with ALL my heart, mind, soul and strength.

I have been blessed beyond expectation. I have been forgiven. I am loved beyond measure. And I have found favor in Gods sight. ALL this because I trusted and put my faith and love in his hands...GOD IS GOOD,

i been crying out in the wilderness and SHOUTING at the top of my lungs,God bless that one today that called in spirit asking for help to find his way to the light within ,it is the truth that guides you to the light within you ,when you hear in spirit the word of GOD comes into your soul through the faith you have in the lord ,a door is opened that no one can close and he comes to you giving the bright morning star the light that now shines in you ,the love you have in spirit for the spirit of God and bless are all of those that find it and never stop believing in it,for when you do this you become more alive inside your soul and become enlightened ,this is the beginning of falling in love with the spirit of God ,this is a fire burning inside of you spiritually destroying the tree of evil inside of your soul the body ,this is the light within you,your spirit and that light must never go out ,you only have one chance at taking a shot at the moon and blessed are those that are wise that come to the understanding of this spirit ual i give you the crown of life,that to live forever and ever with you in the house of GOD

If God surely got here down and made himself oftentimes used to the international and instructed all of us that Christianity is the dazzling course to stay with, and there became into no possibility that it became right into a hoax, of course i might convert. If God purely got here to me and no person else, on the different hand, i might question my sanity greater suitable than my loss of perception.
