I was hurt in a car wreck - lots of neck pain. Who should I go to for help? There are two questions - which doctor is the most likely to actually help me, and the other thing is will I be able to claim the medical expenses back? Can I see both and expect the auto insurance to pay?

I will start backwards. You can see both, and the insurance company will pay for it. However, both will probably feel that you are stepping on their toes by seeing the other. You received a mechanical insult to your spine. So, the Doctor of Chiropractic is the most likely to help you. But, depending on your pain levels, you may want some pain medication.

My husband works for an Orthopaedic surgery center within a major hospital in Indiana. I would see one of those. As far as the chiropractor, well, they will help the pain, but not treat it permantely! That's why you have to go 2-3 times a week forever! You might even look into a neurlogist.

No, you should not expect to be paid for seeing both. Orthos are generally seen as more reputable than chiros, but either can be seen for treatment.

Whether you can claim the medical expenses back depends on the laws of your state. I'd go into a lot more detail, but really, you should ask your claims examiner and you will be told everything you need to know.

#1 - A chriopractor is NOT a doctor (maybe a witch doctor).
#2 - Lots of difference in neck pain and neck injury. If you are injured then please see a REAL doctor ASAP.
