Sometimes this is true, yes. Not always. Reportedly, dogs on higher quality foods are less likely to eat their own feces, and dogs will often stop copraphagia after a diet change. I have to admit that this has not been my own experience, and I have one dog who eats his own poop regardless of any of the diets he's been on.

There's actually an article on this in Whole Dog Journal this month where they explore a whole range of different solutions that have worked for various dogs.

Most dogs eat poop because their diet is lacking vitemins and the pup is trying to get all they can from what they ate. This is a good reason why pets should be fed good quailty pet food( with meat as the #1 ingredent, when was the last time you saw a pack of wild dogs eat a corn field?)

We had a dog who was coprophagic. He eventually outgrew it.

Yeah, dogs are gross. That's actually the answer to most of the questions in this section. :)
