Felons can very own blackpowder weapons, called weapons because of the fact actual BP weapons at the instant are not considered firearms and therefor a felon can very own one. a real BP gun is one that is made or a duplicate of a BP gun that's made purely before 1899. So modern-day in-line some thing others which at the instant are not replicas of BP weapons made purely before 1899 are considered firearms. the main oftentimes used BP weapons are of the .50 high quality length, you could in all likelihood take a deer with that as long as you're on the element of it. BP muskets pass all the way as much as .86 high quality i've got confidence, because of the fact they at the instant are not classed as firearms anybody can very own it and not using a DD enable/workplace work as required by using firearms of similar or bigger high quality. BP rifles/muskets can use modern-day blackpowder. If felons can hunt on your state, then you incredibly can use a BP gun to seek with.

This is a a common question. In my state, in the south, a lot of the people I get on probation enjoy hunting. I tell them that they absolutely cannot hunt with a modern gun. Here crossbows are okay for a felon, but muzzleloaders are a bit of a gray area. In my state, at least, it is going to depend upon the game and fish officer, sheriff, or prosecuting attorney. I would encourage you to contact one or all of these entities in your area and ask them. Better safe than sorry.
For what it's worth, I'm not sure that he lifetime ban on firearms is really necessary for a lot of convicted felons. I can certainly understand it for people who commit violent crimes, but for others,.........

Ckeck with your local police. Laws vary from state to state. BATF does not consider blackpowder guns as guns, but this does NOT mean that you can't get into hot water with the local cops.

Don't think convics are allowed to own guns...........anywhere really..........but I guess it depends on the crime you commited, felony? Misdemeanor? petty theft? for the former two, you're not allowed to even own a gun, for the latter, and similar low-end crimes, I'm not sure, but I think you're allowed to own and hunt, as long as you're not a fugitive.
