Well I don't think Mary Magdalan is so much. I think people get her confused as a prostitute when really she was more likely the sister of Martha and Lazarus. Ran away and got possessed I guess. Anyway she was one of the most trusted of Jesus followers.

Eve on the other hand I think has been used by a patriarical church to keep women down. I know at this point I sound like a raging femanist but, hey lets call a spade a spade. When I compare the original sin of Eve to that of Adam I see Eve being tempted to sin by evil itself and then Adam....being told to eat it be his wife....and then...he does. Wow what temptation. Both of them did it otherwise it would be a womans world and men would still be sitting in the garden naming animals. It is easier to keep women at home making babies when we are the apartently more evil and tempting then satan himself. Okay, I am upset now. Must go pray for the evils of men.

Well, Eve is the one though to be responsible for the downfall of manking although in my opinion, we humans want the cahllenge of everyday living and not to be stuck in a sinneless and sexless paradise. Mary magdalene is confused with a prostitute according to the History cahnel show I was watching. In fact, no clear connection can be made between these two but it is said that the early church connected the two women in order to make her fall from grace and so that women will keep "pure" and "chaste" .

Frankly, they are greatly misunderstood.

Based on the information in the Bible, many have come to believe that Eve is somehow responsible for the suffering of the human race. Latter-day saints, on the other hand, recognize that our mother Eve was brave enough to make a choice that set a plan in motion which has made it possible for all humankind to be born and have a chance to return to our Heavenly Father. Without her, we wouldn't be here. While her choice transgressed the commandment she was given by God, she is our mother and lived a very righteous life after the fruit event. She has been referred to in latter-day scripture as "glorious".

Mary Magdalene also seems to be the victim of rumor, saying that she was a prostitute, and so forth. I personally don't find Biblical support for that idea. Not to mention that she was obviously an ardent follower of Jesus Christ and that Jesus Christ Himself chose her to be the first person He appeared to after His resurrection.

Eve, because of her pride and I don't think Mary Magdalene has incurred such wrath, as you put it, as a matter of fact, I think she is very revered as being among the few that stood beneath the cross of Christ and also she was the first Jesus appeared to after his Resurrection.

Until recently Mary Magdalene was thought of as a prostitute, even though it does not say she is in the bible. Eve is the perpetrator of original sin (like Adam couldn't say no either). What they are, are examples of sinful women and were used as reasons to keep women as oppressed for so long.

Speaking only for Mary Magdalene - she's a highly regarded Saint on the Christian Calendar (July 22), and she has the singular designation that no other Saint (Bishop, Confessor, Martyr, King, Abbot, etc.) has:

"Penitent"

How is she maligned, exactly?

Because they were enlightened strong women that did not allow men to control their lives. Thinking for ones self was not an accepted female quality back then.

Eve is the reason we have original sin. I don't hear to much bad about Mary being horrible. She repented and she did not affect us at all.
