Yes... cats do this most annoying thing (drinking from the toilet bowl. I think it is becuase the flushing makes the toilet water more oxygenanted than water in their bowls. But cats don't understand that although well oxygenated, toilet eater can also be full of germs! So, I solved this problem by the simple solution of putting "toilet blue" in the toliet tank. Apart from making your toilet water blue and nice smelling, it also cleans the toilet. The blocks are very cheap and can be obtained in any grocery or 7-11 store. After I did this, my cats don't drink from the toliet bowl anymore as cats are very finicky about "flavored" water. Just the smell of it turns them off.
Of course, I give them fresh water from the tap once or twice a day. Make sure that cats' water bowls are filled and filled with frsh water at al times.
Am thinking of getting them one of those cat water fountains for X'mas as I've heard many great cat stories about them. May be worth the $40 investment for cat kidney and urinary tract help.

Most cats do that. When they are nearer the toilet than their water bowl they will. The water in the toilet is colder than the water in their bowl. The porcelain keeps it colder.
I give our cats a bowl of fresh ice water once a day, and they still drink out of the toilet every so often.

i know what you feel i have 2 cats and they always have there fresh water but they would rather drink the toilet water than the fresh water i give them.i think that it is because the toilet water tastes better than the other water. that is just what i think.

Most likely out of curiosity. If you don't like your cat doing this though, try closing the lids to the toilet so the cat can't drink from it.

My cat likes to drink running water from the faucet in the bathroom sink. She gets in the sink with the water running, drinks what she wants & then washes herself. Usually she does this while I'm getting my shower or getting ready for bed.

maybe it likes the taste of the toilet water :-/ blah....
best way to keep your cat from drinking out of the toilet is to just leave the seat down...that's what I ended up doing :)

my cat likes to lick the shower floor after i get out, and jumps up on the counters and drinks from the sinks even though they have a little cat fountain. Maybe its that whole hunting instinct that they need to sometimes get their own water to prove what awesome cats they are.
