It's point is to collect dust in the cupboard! Lol! Actually I know a couple of people that love them, but to me it's just one more gadget to sit around. Now I do love my Kitchen Aid mixer! It's on my countertop year round and always used.

I may be the worst cook in history, but I get really uneven results when cooking rice on the stove top. The best thing about a rice cooker for me is that I get consistent results every time and it takes away the anxiety over whether the rice will turn out or not.
Some of the new high-end rice cooker have different setting for different types of rice and have better control from what I've read.

The advantage it has over a pot is that you put in the rice and water, click a switch and you don't need to watch over it and eat it when you're ready. I think they're a great invention and use mine often. All of the rice cookers i know come with a non stick pan and the skin is supposed to form at the bottom. If not non stick the rice sticks down hard and its impossible to wash. Take it from a Chinese person!!!!

the considerable reason to apply a rice cooker is for convenience. you could start it cooking and circulate off and ignore approximately it. there is an computerized close off that kicks in while the rice is finished so no concerns approximately burning it and the rice seems suited each and every time.

I've had a few and they all pretty much work the same. If you're not the greatest cook out there, they're useful-take the guess work out of making rice. Pretty much though, cooking it in a pot works just as well and is WAY easier to clean up!!

Rice cookers generally add many tasteful advantages and even gives you more ways to prepare rice...but i wouldnt even spend a cent on one just because its easy enough in a pot

none really i suppose...just another contraption to have around. I like mine cuz you put the water and rice in at one time and it doesnt take up stove space. Good to take places for potluck and such.
