It all depends on what you are looking for? I've always found the that the friendliest people live in the north and prices are cheaper as well;. Lancashire, Yorkshire and Northumberland are all great, you can't go wrong there. Scotland as well, but the scenery might remind you of Scandinavia. I have always liked Oxfordshire, the landscape is beautiful and it's in the heart if England, I think it's my favourite county, it's got a great atmosphere.

I recomend the Peak district which is lovely part of the North U.K, if not there, then definitely the South east after London, thats Kent area, or the South West, Somerset: Minehead, Watchet, or Torquay, Exeter, Penzance ( Cornwall). The beautiful english Riviera!

I agree with Lollipopp, East Anglia is a great area of the UK (Norfolk and Suffolk to you ;) ). I live in Norwich right in the heart of East Anglia, and we are surrounded by beautifull sweeping country lanes and smaller towns. Norwich is by no means a small city, (we used to be the capital of England), but we aren't too big either (like the smog infested centre of London!). You can get to London easily, and if you get bored, you can take a relaxing drive round the country lanes and East Anglia is all beaches bar the left side which connects us to the rest of England. I recommend you check out maps.live.com. You can see what the areas are like and how many cities there are, their size, and stuff.

East Anglia is good. Excellent rail links to London which is around an hours journey. I live in Peterborough and you can get to anywhere in the country from here.

It depends what you want to do for a job. I would seriously recommend North Staffordshire, and Stoke-on-Trent in particular, as we are pretty close to being the geographical centre of the country, and are in easy travelling distance to London, Birmingham, Liverpool and Manchester; the fastest growing areas of the country.

It depends what you would like to do, how much money you have and what kind of people you like. If you want to work in a city and money is no object move to London. Stay up north if you want it cheaper and if you like the countryside then try Norfolk.

Scotland has always had very strong links with Scandinavia and you wil feel most at home there. But you will also feel very cold, wet and miserable there! .....but then, you'll be used to that.
