I don't think suicide is selfish, unless it's a parent committing the act while they have young children without any other support.

Suicide is a horrible thing, it's the last method one undertakes when all other coping methods fail. Suicide is not selfish. Anyone who commit or attempts to commit suicide is not in a normal frame of mind. The entire concept of suicide goes against all of our natural instincts for survival. Therefore it is not correct that someone should force ideals thought through a stable frame of mind onto a person without a stable frame of mind.
And example would be an insanity plea in a court. That person is not criminally convicted the same as a person who doesn't plead insanity, yet commits the same crime.

If they're not mentally stable, then you can't judge them as such.

Its not really about being selfish, some people just feel that they can´t cope so they end it. What they don´t realise is that time doesn´t stand still, every day and everything passes. The next day you may feel great but how are you going to know if you haven´t got a pulse.

Well let me put it this way, I lost my husband in 1998 by accidental shooting. The family members took it very hard. All heard was a couple of family members that wanted to kill themselves so they could be with him. I got mad and told them that it was not fair to take their lives and I had to stay here to raise our 13 year old son. I was furious with these people thinking that they can take the easy way out. Just because they can not deal with his death. Well what about me? I wished I was dead to but I knew it was my responability to raise our son. I am sorry, but I was going through the same thing and I had to deal with it at age 30. I am glad I didn`t do it because I got to see my first Grandson and I am a proud Grandma.

The person who kills themselves. RARELY is there an issue, problem, or illness that cannot be resolved and yet some people choose to end their life and leave behind stunned and grieving families and friends.

If one was comtemplating suicide rather than life in prison, or death by a debilitating incurable disease or something of that nature, I could understand the choice not to suffer a complete lack of quality of life.

the person who commits it bc they only see things their way and refuse to accept the world as it is. ppl wanting u to live shows that they love u it may be a miserable world for u but its not like they want to keep u alive to make u suffer! the person who commits suicide is only thinkining about themself and not the amount of lives it will affect and change...one person's suicide can also lead the other ppl having suicidal thots-people who loved that person...suicide is cowardice not bravery and also selfishness

the person who wants to kill himself, knowing that others will be seriously affected by his actions. I had a friend who killed himself last fall. since that time, his wife has been hospitalized 3 times, because wshe believes she could have prevented it, and their children have been removed and now live in a foster home that are raising them in a different religion, and culture. The kids have been told their mother is going to hell because she is catholic, and they have had the children rebaptized pentecostal. Instead of staying in the catholic school they were in where they had friends and the teachers accepted them, they were shoved into a private "christian" school that is telling them that everything they have been taught about their religion and herritage( they are half Native) is evil and wrong. So, think about those around you before you do something so very selfish.
