You asked a silly question, but I can give a real answer. Cats remember details about life through their sense of smell. Cats leave "notes" for themselves and other cats everywhere they go by using their scent glands to mark their territory. Everyone knows about "spraying"- that intact male cats leave urine markings in various places to claim their turf, but many people don't notice that cats have another set of scent glands in their cheeks. The hormones in a cat's body change slightly according to the cat's mood and they learn to recognize the variations in their own scents. So a cat will rub against something in its environment to leave a scent marker, then it will be able to smell the place later (read its note to self) and know how it was feeling the last time it visited that place.

They used to keep notes hidden in their secret pouch*. But these days they've gone hi tech and use your pc.
*Why else do you think they don't like you rubbing their belly?
