In order to maintain backward compatibility with older operating systems (DOS), the A and B drives are reserved for diskette drives (floppy or semi rigid). When hard drives made the scene, they usually default to C. Any other drives no longer worry about being compatible ot ancient OS's, so now your operating system (xp, 98, or whatever MAC uses) pretty much picks a letter that's not used. The D tends to be a CD/DVD, but sometimes there is either a second hard drive or the one hard drive is partitioned. In those situations, the D is probably (but not necessarily) another hard drive.

Now, all that history aside, if you are trying to run a CD and it doesn't autorun, open "My Computer" and double click the CD drive. explore for either "setup.exe" or "your program name" ending in exe or bat.

One error that sometimes happens, especially with newer games, is the CD is actually a DVD. If the "CD" drive is not a combination CD/DVD drive, it won't recognize anything is in the drive. Either upgrade to a combo drive or move it to the DVD drive.

Hope this helps.

D Drive IS your CD rom (the place where to instert your cd's) Your C Drive is actually your drive of information of programs, ect. You can not actually run a CD off of your C Drive. I don't know how to fix your problum. If i where to guess i would say that one of your drives are messed up. It has happend to me on my laptop. Overall your question needs more(of what is happening)

If you have one hard drive it will take c: if you have one CD drive only it should take D: it you do not see drive D: you have to install driver for it so the computer will recognize it.

i like the place youre going with this, i pass college a lot. often if u circulate to ur mom nd say u dont experience properly, she shud permit united statesa. off college . If she doesnt permit u say youll be no use at school besides because of the fact your feeling ill, and you wont be waiting to concentration.it works extra suitable in case you're saying experience ill the night b4 so it doesnt arouse suspicion. Failing that, what ive performed a pair of cases is fake notes from my parents that are writen via pals saying i replaced into ill the day beforehand of this and didnt are available in. Howver ive been caught as quickly as and replaced into in deep truble so i wouldnt advise it, in undemanding terms a final hotel. I dont fairly have the different techniques, the ill trick is the superb i fink. besides stable luck, wish it works! Elle, South dakota xxxxxxx

Could be your CD drive has been assigned a different drive letter.. If you have a CD drive, go to "my computer" and see what drive letter was assigned. ;-)=
