My cats have had a raw meat diet for the last seven years. I use a supplement powder (for calcium, fiber, some vitamins). I get organic ground chicken, organic ground turkey from a small market where the meat is ground every few days, the grinders scrupulously cleaned and the meat is never "packaged". Two pounds of raw ground meat has four ounces of the chicken or turkey liver added. I also get as much heart as I can to add as heart is very rich in taurine.

Doing a raw diet is not rocket science and it does take some education on your part. You might read the information available from the veterinarian at www.catinfo.org about preparing the food.

There is no commercial cat or dog food that can compare to making your own. People who will not read the ingredient labels on the junk they feed their cats do not have enough desire to do their own.

Can Cats Eat Raw Meat

Raw meat is just fine - its what a cat would eat in the wild. As other posters mentioned, if you feed a diet that is only raw meat, make sure your cat is getting the proper nutrition- raw meat cuts found in a grocery store are very lacking in some important things. Remember, a cat in the wild will eat almost all of the animal, not just a few choice cuts. Also, if you feed your cat chunks of meat instead of ground, you will find that the teeth get cleaned. Dry food does nothing for cleaning teeth.

My cat Gracie's favorite treat was raw chicken livers. Sure cats can eat raw meat but not everyday as they need a well balanced diet. My cat Mia made rude covering up motions( like this was something in the litter box) when I gave her a pinch of raw hamburger meat.Gracie loved a pinch of raw hamburger meat so it depends of the cat.

well it depends on witch type of meat it is if its any pork say no!!!cause the cat might get parisites u know like tape worms and those things can kill. but if the meat is like liver or but i think that is all that u should give them. besides there is always catnip and other favorites that u can give them and if the cat shows any sign of vomiting or diareaha or anything different go to a vet right away. ok well thats all i know srry bye and have fun raising a cat.

NO!!!!!! Yes that was what they ate eons ago but they are domestic now. If they are outdoor cats and they catch mice now and then thats one thing but their diet should not consist of Strictly raw meat. It isnt healthy for us and its not healthy for dogs or cats. I have seen a number of cats and dogs that come into the vet clinic severly sick from diets of just raw meat. Please limit the raw meats!!

DOMESTIC cats should be VERY limited on any access to raw meat.

The domestication process can cause the eating of raw meat to upset their stomachs.

Although domestic cats hunt and eat wildlife, this exposes them to deadly parasites.

Of course cats "can" eat raw meat. The question is "should" cats eat raw meat...and the answer to that is, maybe, if the meat is butcher-grade. But cat food is cheaper and better for them.
