Contact the district attorney and see if they have a "diversion" option for first-time offenders. You can likely pay a fine or go to traffic school and get no points.

You probably have the option to go to driver improvement school. Look on the back of the citation. It should say if that is an option for you. If it does not, call the traffic court on Monday morning. Also (little known fact) if you explain that you are low on cash, often they will give you an extension on the payment date. The sign was posted due to traffic congestion and crashes. Consider it a learning experience.
BTW you will still have to pay the ticket, but by going to driver improvement school (additional cost) you would not have any points assigned. Hope this helps.

You may not have to go to court over the ticket if you go to the courthouse and pay the fine. You may be able to enroll in traffic school to avoid the points on your licence. I suggest that you don't go before a judge if you don't have to. Usually only people that are fighting traffic tickets go before the judge. Then, if you get found guilty anyways, they are more strict on the sentencing, still usually a fine. Good Luck.

Yeah. Go to court. If you are lucky that officer that issued the ticket will not show up, and then the ticket gets thrown out. If he dose show up just tell them what happen, and show remorse(judges like that) There more then likely won't be problem. Providing that there are not a lot of other infractions on your driving record.

Just explain what you said and what happened or just go to traffic school. If you opt for that then you don't get any points on your record.

Get a traffic court lawyer. Explain your situation to him, sit back, and let them do the rest...

"I was very intent on the traffic because it was rush hour and missed that sign. I certainly didn't realize left turns were prohibited."

You have to prove with pictures that the sign was unreadable, blocked or just plain wrong to get out of it. http://trafficschools.blogspot.com
