It's just a collection of myths to scare the gullible, hypocrites and weaklings into obedience.

The accounts of history given were by people who were there. All of scripture is inspired of God. 2 Tim 3:16 It was written by 44 different authors over a 1500 year period. There is proof that the Bible is accurate with the prophecies written...like about Babylon, Tyre Sidon, Cyrus ...and the kingdoms of the world...many more.
These can be confirmed with other secular books...history books. The Dead Sea scrolls were discovered in 1948. They date back to 150-170 BC. There are many more archeological discoveries that prove the Bible like the Moabite Stone, the Lackish Letters, the Cyrus' Cylinder, the Rosetta Stone. Just the fact that the Bible has survived for all these centuries and is still important to people is proof also. There have been wars fought and people persecuted for just this book. Has any other book caused this much stir in people? The biggest and best evidence is the change that reading the Bible causes in the life of people who are really looking for truth!

The people who claim that the Bible fulfills many prophesies forget that the prophecies are part of the Bible too. It's like being amazed that Lethal Weapon II continues on the premises set forth by Lethal Weapon I. The people who wrote the New Testament had the Old Testament in front of them as they constructed their narrative, and the story of Jesus was shaped and embellished to 'fulfill' the prophesies of the old prophets.

Now, of course the Bible has some truth in it. There really is a place called Judea, for example. But there's also really a place called Beverly Hills 90210, but that doesn't necessarily mean that Luke Perry is the messiah.

There are ample lies and contradictions in the Bible. If you google 'Bible contradictions' you are bound to find some. The gospels are a great source of contradiction, as there are four stories of the same events, and they often disagree with each other quite plainly. But there's more...the biggest lie of all being the notion of 'God'.

The Bible's writers are varied. Certainly in the New Testament, authors of books were eye witnesses, or their disciples. In the Old Testament, many scholars believe that books were probably transmitted orally for generations before being put to writing. Were any "guesswork"? I don't think so. People would see through that. That's why the Bible is comprised of the books it has since very early days, even though there were other writings available. The false ones got dropped.

the bible should be taken no more seiously than greek myths. its only purpose is to inspire people give them guidlines to being christians. every religion puts out information for this benifit. no relious book is better than another. what people don't talk about is that there was a commitee to decide what would enevatably go into the bible (both old and new) from many different tales. some were even translated from other languages like greek and latin not just hebrew.

The Bible to me after study is a collection of stories that are taken from other mythologies, along with tribal histories that carry true events with them, revisionist history, religious parables, and man's philosophy on morality and why we are here. Fascinating but not literally true. You can't quote the Bible to support the Bible being true and much scholarship has been done on problems and questions in prophecies. You might enjoy reading "Who Wrote The Bible" by Freidman or "Misquoting Jesus: Who Changed The Bible and Why" by Ehrman.

The Bible is like a jewel.

However, it inconceivably transcends a physical jewel because it has infinite lines of symmetry.

There are levels within levels of meaning in it.

It is basically a diagram of God's saving action in the human race.

The Old Testament is so terrible in many respects because it is a description of man without God's grace, as it so often existed after the fall but before the arrival of Jesus.

The New Testament is a description of what the coming of Jesus saved us from and the eternal life He is offering us.

With the light of faith, the Bible become intelligible to the mind.

The hidden meaning becomes apparent, so that you get to the point where you no longer doubt its validity.

There are many things in life that we simply know, without being able to explain them.

As that is true in the secular realm, it is also true in the religions realm.

The Bible is a collection of 66 books written by many different people. Very little of the Bible is true. The Bible stories have been passed on, rewritten and translated so many times that even if they were originally based on fact, there is no way that they are factual now.

When one is anointed with the Spirit of Truth that is given to all who are born of God, the Spirit of Truth assures that the Bible is true.

The bible is written by prophets who heard, saw visions, had dreams directly from the LORD God of the bible.

Prophets predict of the Promised Messiah & future that is truly Gods plan.

It is written to test the Prophets to see if they have heard from the LORD God. And all the books in the Bible have been tried, tested & found true.
