(1) DVD players are fine as long as you keep it off during takeoff and landing
(2) DVDs will not be hurt by personnel screening x-ray machines (neither will CDs, floppy disks, memory sticks, flash memory, or standard speed camera film) - but undeveloped camera film should be in carry-on luggage, not checked as the checked bag machines have stronger x-rays
(3) Digital cameras are fine, won't be hurt by the x-ray machine either. Also must be kept off during takeoff and landing

You can bring both items with you, as long as your don't exceed your carry on limit. Both items have to be turned off during taxi until you hear a flight attendant announcement allowing you to have them on. (usually 10 to 15 minutes after take off).

For your portable DVD player, I have seen too many passengers who play them without using a headset. Be kind to others by bringing your headset or you will soon be getting dirty looks from everyone around you.

Certain airplanes have an outlet below your seats that you can plug in your own "airplane adapter", you can use it to play your DVD or computer all the way home!!!

You can buy an airplane adapter for around $20.

Believe it or not, there are those who bring certain movies that should never be played in public, they will soon be asked to turn it off by flight attendants.

You can bring both items with you in your carry on luggage. You can check the TSA website http://www.tsa.gov/ they have the complete list of what you can and can not bring on the aircraft with you. As far as the scanners they won't hurt the DVD player and Camera. I travel with my laptop all of the time and its never been hurt before by the scanners.

Have a great flight!!!

No, the x-ray scanner will not hurt it. You may run into a power issue though. If your seat does not have an A/C jack you will have to use a laptop computer or something similar.

To find out if your seat has A/C power call the airlines.
