Have been driving Ford Mondeo cars since they first arrived on our streets. Got a Mondeo year 2004 with Zetec engine - lots of power and fast automatic acceleration.
The Ford Zetec engine was developed by Ford of Germany and probably has a lot of Ford's racing technology built into it.
Ford cars are often sneered at by those who have never owned or driven one. The Ford Zetec, top of the range V6 engine, will outpace any BMW. This is not a joke. The Ford vehicles were put through their paces against BMW's by Jeremy Clarkson and co on TV.
Clarkson pointed to the BMW at the end of the show and told his audience, if you buy one of these, you're a mug. All you are getting is a pretty badge. Buy a Ford,

I drive a focus with a Zetec, engine has nearly 154k miles on it.....runs and sounds like new...what can you say, its a good engine...its been reliable, and the power delivery is fairly good considering its not a turbo and its a small 4 banger. If you push it, it can pull into traffic in a reasonable time....it likes to travel at 60mph, thats the point where your fuel economy is best and your engine isn't working all that hard. I've had minor issues with auxiliary components such as the thermostat housing...but again that is separate design from engine and it wasn't all that bad to fix.

Great engine. Like being revved. Have to admit that the Honda VTEC is more reliable. Ford engines are just as powerful, but Ford electrics are crap and therefore the motors downfall. Red line on our mondingo is about 1500 revs to early!! ZETEC good-VTEC better.

I had a Zetec concentration and the ecu went, ultimately it replaced into extra value-effective to transform it to LPG than replace the techniques. do no longer take it to Ford, they're no longer professionals. Your terrific guess is to locate a close-by gas injection professional. you need to verify the exhaust pipe whilst a chum starts off it - if it stinks of petrol then you truly've flooded it. If the engine does not sound like it many times does whilst attempting to initiate you're starting to be a broken engine. If it sounds completely prevalent such as you assume besides the shown fact that it does not "hearth" then it relatively is a fuelling subject and in straightforward terms a storage or the AA/ RAC ought to help. in case you eu is blown they're approximately £1K to interchange. If all you get is a tick and the engine isn't turning over you're starting to be a flat battery or unfastened battery terminal - see if the lights furniture dim while you're attempting to initiate it. Cheers.

Just bought a 1.8 Focus Edge which has a zetec engine. I don't know much about engines so you'll have to forgive me but it rocks.
It accelerates smoothly but with enough power to really PWN someone if you have to, very quiet, very smooth cruise and if you need extra power just drop down a gear and use it. The engine seems to love being pushed. Top speed may only by 120/130 but who needs it anyway?

Zetec engines are great engines. Cheap to maintain and great performance.
Ignore the Ford haters, they're just being prejuidice against Ford, and know little about the engines.
I would highly recomend them, great power and fuel economy!

Narrow power band when used with EEC4 and EEC5. Cooling system marginal and poorly designed, still prone to head-gasket problems. Very rev happy, you're going nowhere fast until you hit 4000rpm, and not that economical. Crank rear-oil seal prone to leakage.
Zetec comes to life in a Westfield with a pair of DCOEs and a decent engine management system, and a redesigned cooling system with the thermostat repositioned and decent coolant flow being achieved.
