I am in karate but can never understand what they are saying right at the beginning. One of the instructors said it means begin, but i am not for sure how to say it. It sounds like it it sounds some thing like hajamay or something. They say it so fast. Any ideas?

It depends on the form of "karate" you take. Sometimes the art that I take, Taekwondo, is called "karate." Our commands (including the things that are said before a fight) are in Korean.
Chariot is attention
Kungye is bow
Sheejahk is what is said to begin fighting.
