I am having trouble installing Windows Service Pack 2. It stops installing during the "performing cleanup" stage and won't restart. Also, when I restart my computer it "hangs". I have tried getting an updated BIOS and also downloading the recommeded patch from the Microsoft website, but it still won't work. Any suggestions?

Start up your computer in Safe Mode, by holding the F8 when the computer is booting. Then, try cleaning up your computer by uninstalling unwanted software and deleting documents, and other files and do a disk clean up from the hard drive properties and that do multiple defrags on the hard drive (try to get no red lines at all). Restart the comptuer normally. Then go to "start", click "run', and type in msconfig. In the "startup" tab, uncheck software that you don't want to run when the computer boots up like quicktime, real player, limewire, kazaa, napster, ect. (some are easy to tell what they are). Then again restart the computer, if you did it right your computer should run alot smoother and then try installing SP2, it tends to hang if programs are running, even in the background. Hope this is good info, I know its alot of work, but it beats paying a computer store money.
