not blowdrying my hair and just straighting it or just blowdring it

Unfortunately they both dry out your hair and cause the hair to split. My advice is to buy a blowdryer with both hot and cold settings. When you're drying your hair you can keep it cool. Use lots of conditioer to help with split ends, if they're really annoying you then get your hair trimmed and start using protective serum and leave - in conditioner when blowdrying. I'd stay away from the straightner for a month at least, then see how it's looking. Straightners are really bad for your hair so try and save that for special occasions and always use protective serum with your straightner.

IF you already have split ENDS then stop blowdrying it and get them trimmed if you do no have split ends use the cool shot button on your blowdryer to seal your hair CUTiCle shut after using a mediumheat setting. LOOK For HEAT PROTECTANT PRODUCTS AND PRODUCTS THAT SAY THEY SEAL THE CUTICLE BECAUSE A SPLIT CUTICLE = SPLIT eNDS

Straighteners are hotter and do more damage to your hair. Keep trimming your split ends. Buy some hair products, i like to use a good straightening balm, then spray on some heat protection spray.

straightening is terrible for your hair. but, i still do it daily! ;) I have been using this CHI silk infusion serum prior to blow drying my hair and it creates a seal of sorts so your hair doesn't fry from the blow drying and flat ironing. I have definately noticed a difference in the feel and texture as well as the number of split ends.

it's definitely straightening it with a straightener b/c I've been blow drying my hair ever since i was little and I've been blow drying and straightening it for 2 years now and it has dried out from the straightener I mean it doesn't look bad I can just tell a difference between then when i only blow dryed it ...so it's from straightening...i stopped doing it everyday and my hair looks so much better!!

Both are bad actually. But straightening is worse 'cause the heat is so much more intense. Blow drying at medium settings is a better option.

key is to protect your hair by coating it with a smoothing lotion or a styling cream. check out aveda.com for their product lines. when your hair is protected, blowdrying or straightening won't hurt it.

Neither one is good it is still going to burn your hair one way or the other.
