You can hang them on a wall and they use slightly less power than a tube TV of the same screen size. I guess if you buy one with HDMI/DVI inputs it might be future proof, though by the time HD TV and Blu-Ray/HD DVD becomes the norm the HDMI specifications would have changed. (They've been tweaked slightly already).

Not boasting but I have a 52" lcd h.d t.v and as Freddief says awesum picture, it's like being in the cinema.

an lcd tv has a longer life, brighter and usually a higher resolution
