I know a woman who has a 7 year old daughter and a 5 year old son. The children sleep in the same bed every night, naked. Not a stitch, not even underpants. Two nights ago I stopped by and they were already in bed. On my way to the bathroom I passed the bedroom and (in the words I overheard spoken by the children) they were taking turns "riding" each other. I am horrified and totally freaked out. The mom says we are born naked and being naked is natural. What do I do? Is this illegal or abusive or just creepy? Help!

in answer to one of the questions. . .it wasn't "sex" obviously cause they are only 5 and 7 but the play was definitely of a sexual nature . . .and would likely be construed that way even if the children hadn't been naked. however, i am not sure that the children understand what they are doing, but that doesn't comfort me any.

Definitely creepy.

It sounds like you've already mentioned something about them sleeping naked together because you say that the mom says "we are born naked and it's natural." So since maybe that approach didn't work, I would bring it up with a 3rd party to see what your options are. Doesn't necesarily have to be an authority or official, but someone who would be able to give you a non-biased opinion.

At their age, it shouldn't be ok for them to sleep together naked because their minds are growing (as well as their curiousity). Maybe they are seeing things on TV (or even seeing what mommy and daddy do) which is why they are experimenting. But Mom should not be encouraging them to sleep together naked.

Are you sure that "riding" was a sexual thing? If you didn't actually see them, couldn't it have been interpreted as simply giving piggyback rides to each other, or something similar?

If you're concerned, talk with the mom about it before going further. Nudity itself is not a problem & should not be demonized. Perhaps you misheard what was going on and you've equated all nudity with sexuality?

If there is a true problem, then perhaps an honest discussion with the mom will help. Good luck.

Obviously we are all born naked, but this is no excuse for children to be doing this. You should inform the mother of your concern, and the mother can try to find out what the kids are doing. If the kids are performing anything related to sexual activity, which they seem to be doing, the mother must sit them down and find out why they are doing that/how they came to discover the activity. If the mother does not do this, then I recommend you contact CPS, for the sake of the two children.

For one, this is definitely an issue for Children Services, call them now! Secondly, children at that age should not only have their own bed but should be sleeping with something on, this is just totally wrong. If they had their own room then it would not be so weird, because I have a son that literally HATES to wear anything to bed, but it is enforced that he MUST wear his boxers at least and he has his own room.

I know that in alot of states if parents have a girl and a boy, and they share a bedroom once they turn a certain age its against the law for them to share. In this case depending of if your state does this, Im pretty sure that the girl is to old to be sharing a room with her brother. Now if they have to share a room because of money or something like that, then they should have their own beds.

Sorry, kind of sounds like a made up question. If kids want to sleep naked, fine, as long as it's in their own bed, in their room, by themselves or a shared room of a same sex child.

You need to get someone else involved - but not necessarily the authorities, because they tend to overreact and it gets very difficult to slow down the process once they get involved.

Is there a clergyman or an older relative you can talk with? Perhaps they can talk with the mother and express this concern.

If that doesn't work - then, regretfully, I think you have to call Child and Family Services and let them know what's going on.

that is kinda creepy, but it is true that we are naturally naked, but that is no excuse for a 7 and 5 year old to sleep naked. i think you should talk 2 her kids and ask what they do, and if they do something that is too crazy, you should tell someone.

It is just plain sick for the mother to allow these children to sleep in bed together especially naked. The children are young enough to not understand what they are doing but you need to contact child abuse hotline and report this woman.Do it soon as possible.
