In the Christian myth, the gold, frankincense, and myrrh are prophetic that he came into the world to die (the herbs are used to embalm the dead in many cultures of the time), and the gold symbolized kingship.

Frankincense is a great herb that helps people connect with their higher selves. It also helps to bring positive vibrations and energy where it is being burned. It is an herb used for cleansing homes and people. I mix it with all my incense blends. An alternative to Frankincense is Copal. It is not as strong and a little bit sweeter smelling. I always use this with I run out of frankincense. It is a great gift for a child because it will help insure that positive things will always come into that child's life. This the season for the nativity.....

I've used it. It tends to be strong and no, it's not an appropriate gift for a baby. Assuming that you are referencing the whole Nativity thing here... it was considered a valuable gift back then. Something that was not only worth a lot of money, but had "sacred" qualities as well for many different religions.
Maybe this is where the saying "It's the thought that counts" comes from?
Pagan (seems I have to place the "disclaimer" here... the emails are getting stupid)

I make Frankincense and Myrrh candles every year for the holidays.
They smell great, have some small meaning to the bible thumpers and put cash in the wallet....they are great to me
and yes if you buy from me i think it's the best gift a baby could ever want.
how could those wise men be wrong....they were wise =)

Frankincense is very good for incense and used as an essential oil, but make sure you dilute it with a currier oil like grapeseed oil. As for a gift for a baby, I wouldn’t put oil of this nature onto a baby’s skin, babies tend to break out in eczema.

I do, and love it. I buy it in crystal form and burn it on a charcoal block. Your right, not a good gift for a baby, they might try putting it in their mouth.

Sure. It's a key ingredient in some of the incenses I make.
