If he was not, then what makes him human?

I'm pretty sure the term refers to Adam and Eve...

Good question - even if a tad irreverent.

In traditional Christian theology, Jesus has *two* natures - a human and a divine.

*Who* He is is God the Son, the second person of the Trinity who has existed from all eternity.

At His conception in the womb of the Blessed Virgin, a human body and soul were created by God and united to His divine personhood.

With the rest of us, a human personhood emerges when our body and soul come into being.

But the uniting of His personhood with His body and soul, prevented His body and soul from expressing their own personhood (as it does with the rest of us).

So *what* He is is both human and divine. *Who* He is is divine only.

There is only one divine subject of action in Him.

As a result, He could never have sin, since being God, God cannot sin.

As a divine subject, there is no possible subject to be able to commit sin.

You can read more on this in the works of St. Thomas Aquinas.

Sin is not a part of the composition of human beings. Adam and Eve were created sinless. By committing their sin, they brought about an EFFECT on subsequent generations. All are born with the effects of Original Sin, which is a life of corruption and evil. The Catholic church proclaims an exception: Mary was "immaculately" conceived. Therefore she was free from this effect and did not pass it on to Jesus, who was God incarnating in her womb. Her contribution made him human. The miraculous circumstances of her own conception made him unsusceptible to sin.

I'm just reporting the doctrine.

Jesus was more than just human he was God in the flesh and sinless. If as some religions teach Jesus was merely human he could not have been without sin.

You see we get our blood from our fathers(proven by science) and well since His Father was not human, whether you believe it or not its true. Flesh and blood , the fact that he was born of human mother, The fact that He went through everything we go through, the fact that He died, all these hings are what made Him human. What makes Him God is that He rose again to save us from our sins.

He was born human and without sin. That is why He could die on the cross for our sins. He was sinless.

This gives me a headache. By Christian beliefs, he himself is God..so he could choose not to have the original sin...yet later on, he was baptised by john the Baptist. I don't know!! You win, I can't answer this question.

I believe that according to Christian doctrine, he was actually born with original sin. It was, believe it or not, his mother Mary who was not. It is called the immaculate conception.
