Most people wait for eight to ten weeks. Those early weeks with their mother is when kittens really learn how to be cats. This socialization time is really important. So, if I were you I would wait a couple more weeks so they can have some quality Mom time.

6-10 weeks. And they shouldn't be drinking cow milk. You should have weaned them by this point, or should still be in the process of getting them on regular food. And, you should have an appointment to get their mother fixed.

8 weeks old is the absolute earliest age the kittens should be given away. They should be weaned from their mother and able to eat and drink on their own.

Once they learn to drink from a bowl or plate - it's time to give them away.

They need to be at least 9 weeks old. They need to be fairly independent, be able to eat dry food, and they should be rowdy and energetic. They can be a little shy but you want them to have healthy personalities before you give them away.

6 weeks is way too short a time. try 12. the kittens still need to learn proper cleaning themselves (you do not want a cat that smells horrible all the time, trust me) and basic hunting skills.
