Oh I fully understand, poor love, I think I might have to have an extraction today as my tooth broke earlier in the week and is causing me immense pain, I too am a bit wary about going but I am sure everything will be just fine! I am sure your daughter will be big and brave and after it's all over, will wonder why she was even worried! The injection is definitely the worst part of any dental treatment!
UPDATE ~ Got my tooth out today and I didn't feel a thing until the anaesthetic wore off but I presume it will be different for your daughter as I guess it's her baby tooth coming out?

I had a tooth out last year & had an injection. I am really scared of the dentist, even for a check up! I can honestly say that the worst part was the injection & that was only for a couple of seconds. I didn't feel a thing & the tooth was out in no time.It was much easier than having a filling. The good thing was that I no longer had toothache. My daughter had to have 4 teeth out before having her brace fitted & she has a real phobia about the dentist. I contacted him & he prescribed a low dose sedative which she had to take an hour before her appointment & it really helped to relax her.She had no problems & is not so scared now. Maybe you should give your dentist a call on Monday to chat about your daughters worry.Good luck to your daughter, tell her it doesn't hurt & wil be over in no time. Maybe you could have a small treat ready for her when you get home. I hope you are not too worried either, its hard for the parent when their child is scared. let us know how everything goes,it will be fine.

It won't hurt to have teeth out as she will be given a local anaesthetic to numb the area, the injection will feel like a pin prick and she may feel the flow of the local passing through the soft tissues, any discomfort only lasts seconds. The Dentist will then leave some time for the local to take full affect and then will test the area to make sure it is completely numb before he starts.
The teeth will be elevated out so your daughter will feel pushing and pressure but no pain, when the tooth is loose the Dentist will use forceps to grip the tooth and take it out.
To assist clotting of the wound your daughter will be asked to bite down on gauze. There may be some discomfort when the local wears off but many people don't feel anything. Hope this helps.

Hello Pickle, Dentist do not like giving patients antibiotics unless they are absolutely needed. I use to take antibiotics before any dental procdures due to having a heart murmur, but for some reason they do not like prescribing them anymore. Don't know why?? Maybe because people (especially children) are building up resistance to them?? If you start to see signs of infections like foul odor, fever and vomiting contact your dentist or local ER. Dentist also do not like to give children prescription pain medicine do to the side effects. Most children extrations can be treated with motrin and tylenol, especially if they were baby teeth. I was told that baby teeth do not have large roots like adult teeth so the pain should not be as bad. The motrin will help with the pain and inflammation. Try having your daughter rinse with warm salt water several times a day. This will help heal the soft tissue of the gums. Also try a cold pack on the outside of the cheeks. Just becareful not to dissolve the blood clots. This is an important part of the healing process. If you can't get the pain under control I would then suggest that you call your dentist or local ER. Important thing is DON'T FREAK OUT!! I know that's hard to say when it comes to your kids, but when moms under stress they will be too. Hope she feels better soon and GOOD LUCK!! From, SweetPickle:)

is it her baby teeth, if so, don't worry, doesn't hurt. but if it's her wisdom tooth, well, lets say it not that bad. at first he gives you an injection, that kinda hurts, then he waits for your gum to stop feeling. he then arrives with something that will probaly make your daughter scream so don't let her see what it is. he will then get the tooth, pull on it to the right, then to the left, and your daughter will get really nerves here because she will hear a big crack! and it will hurt a tiny bit, then he will pull the tooth out which will hurt a bit as well and it will be bleeding for a long while and she can't eat for like 2 hours.
sorry thats not the kind of happy story you wanted to tell your daughter but tell the truth, its better, believe me, don't tell her the bulls***t story that it won't hurt. be honest.

Don't use the word injection. Say the tooth will be put to sleep. Ask the dental nurse or dentist if they will use some gel anaesthetic on the gum first so in injection shouldn't hurt. {i know the gel is very good}. You don't say if they are baby or adult teeth. Baby teeth are very easy to remove. Your daughter will hear funny noises when the tooth is being remove. It's very quick & then she will have to bite down on a pack. Just like when mummy puts a plaster on a cut knee to stop the bleeding. Don't worry cause she will pick your stress.

Tell your daughter she is lucky she has money to see a Dentist. I'm a Veteran with no dental thru the V.A.,and I've needed 4 teeth out for 2 months. I had to make my own antibiotics out of animal grade tetracycline. This keeps down the infection till I get my income tax in March.

you can tell you daughter not worry about the teeth out by injection.
all she will feel is the prick of the needle, and the dentist will make sure that the area is totally number before removing the tooth. he will explain everything to her.
i know this because i had a wisdom tooth out by injection and that was how the dentist did it, and i was at one time afraid of injections.
if i can get over that fear, your daughter has not to worry

I had to go by myself to get a wisdom tooth out recently and i'm a big baby so I was super scared. I cried and cried.. I called my mom and everything (i'm 19!!!) and then the doc came in, gave me the novacaine, which even though it really didn't hurt.. it was the worst part. I was numb and still scared, but he started to pull the tooth out and I wasn't feeling anything. Nothing. It only started to hurt once the numb wore off, but if you get your pain medicine beforehand or before the numb wears off, you won't have to deal with it. I had to wait in a long line to get my prescription, so I had to feel it, but other than that.. it really wasn't bad at all. The worst was that I couldn't eat solids for a few days. But a pudding and mashed potato diet works.. Oh, and cookie dough ;) Good luck
