The VR-24 was a service battalion. The primary mission of VR-24 was to service the 6th Fleet in the Mediterranean with freight, mail, personnel transportation, and medical evacuation. It is no longer in existance.

VP Squadron means a patroling squadron in the navy. The "V" stands for fixed wing and the "P" stands for patrol.

As far as "AO" goes. I have only heard of that in refering to Area of Opperations. But that was very rare.

I don't know what AQ means. I've never heard that phrase. But it might mean that it was used in a different branch that I was in.

Best of luck!

So you think we shouldn't use any military terms then like ACU's or BDU's maybe we as military spouses need to say "honey I picked up your battle dress uniform from the cleaners today" or how was "physical training" today instead of PT. I have been married to my soldier for almost 13 years and all of them years he has been in the army. I have been almost beside him through it all. And when I wasn't with him on his deployments, I was there sending him care packages, and writing him and listening to him when he called. I feel that as a spouse their is nothing wrong with using any military acronym and using HOOAH and Semper FI are just that. It is also our way to understand and show our pride for what our spouses are doing. The military is a completely different way of life from the way we live to the way we talk and the more that I can connect with my husband the better to include learning more about the army and how they work and what he does. If I can talk to him on the army's level, the better for him and I. HOOAH!!!!
