I have a crown and no she was not totally correct. Yes, you need to be carefull as to what you eat but the crown is cemented in and if your dentist did the job he was supose to do is should be just fine. Gum is sticky but soft and not strong enough to pull a cemented tooth out unless the tooth is loose already, as for taffy thats pretty soft too. My crown lasted 10 years before I had it replaced a month ago and I have eaten all kinds of stuff.

the receptionist either miss informed you, or you miss understood, you should not eat anything sticky for 24 hours after having the crown cemented, as it needs this period of time to achieve maximum strength.. anything after this time is fine, a good well cemented crown, should work as a functional tooth, meaning that u should be able to eat whatever you desire
so go buy ureself a bag of toffee for ure worries

Not totally.....You CAN chew gum, but I would be careful when eating REALLY sticky and hard candies. I did actually pull a crown off when eating a candy apple once.

Once you get your permanent crown, you can treat it pretty much as if it grew there. Of course, really sticky things and hard candy and not good for natural teeth either, so you will have to be reasonable.

I have many crowns and I eat everything - sticky or not.
Probably, she said that you shouldn't because it's not healthy for teeth in general (it has nothing to do with crowns).

seems like that is a temporary crown. Its not glued on like a finish crown. I just had 2. The permanent allows you to.

What she said would be true for your temporary crown, if you had one put on. For a permanent crown, there shouldn't be any resritictions. Check with your dentist.
