According to the World Pool-Billiard Association, which provides the equipment specifications for many sanctioned events in the industry, the table bed (that is the playing surface, not the rails of the table):

Shall be between 29 ¼ inches [74.295 cm] and 31 inches [78.74 cm].

Of course, commercial manufacturers do not have to comply with WPA standards, but what the governing body of international play says is pretty authoritative on the subject.

most pool/billiard tables are set a bit higher than a regulation ping pong table while you can play on one it will have a different play as everything is going to be higher best bet just buy a regulation ping pong table
