If the media and the American people quit protesting the war, and let the troops do their jobs, it would have been done already.

It's hard to win a war when everything your army does is broadcast on CNN every night.

It depends on what you think winning a war means to you:
1. Have you conqured land : If thats the case we have won it.
2. Have you done the task what you were supposed to do: We have done that too, we require energy resources in the future and Iraq will be fueling us (accept this or not but this is the case)
3. Have you won the people of that land : We have not, and we will never, because they see us as an external occupying force! (eg. if someone supposedly comes in your home and takes over it completely in the sense that you cant even cry for help (as no one listens) and tells you what to do, like if you are a slave, then what would you do? obviously you will kill him or if you cant as he is too powerful, a time will come that you will kill yourself (thats the reason for suicide bombing otherwise people are not mad that they start killing themselves like that)).
One thing more is that there is a difference between war and battle and that is war is fought by a nation and battles by soldiers.
I will call this a battle as our nation is not fighting it only the soldiers are and I can see no soldier who is motivated too now. Its because we were not told the real reasons for the war, only reasons like wmds, saddam etc which are all before us.
As a nation we are the most powerful on this planet, but this power can be used in a sense that innocent lives are not lost. I think the Iraqi people also have families like us, I think they have emotions too! If there are some bad people they are always a small minority or group and I believe they are finished now over there! we have won!!
USA ROX!

It's not for the U.S. to win. Even NATO gave up holding Yugoslavia together and that place is still a mess. Iraq will probably be split up into three sections (Sunni, Shiite and Kurd) when the U.S. forces leave and I don't know why anybody wants to hold Iraq together.

Let's see 2,928 dead in Iraq, it only took 47,410 in Vietnam, oh, lost that one, 214,938 War of Northern Aggression won that one OK. Humm, looks like we maybe in for the long haul so Bush will hang tuff for 2 more years at least. That will not get the body count high enough for a win so the Dem's will have to take up the effort.

Win what the people in Iraq have been fighting each other since before there was religion and will not stop because Bush wants them to follow his thinking

The sunnis and shias are killing each other. They are both killing our soldiers. How do you fight that, unless you think we ought to just clean house in Iraq. That would really mess us up with the world.

Given time and strong resolve it can be done. And unity. Our country needs to unify and stop all of this bickering and undermining our men and women in uniform. Just let them do what needs to be done so they can all come home.
