In its original form, then, what is the lion? Does the lion just not eat or just eat grass? I'm being very serious here - if God created the lion but the horrible suffering it causes by feeding on other animals is the result of sin, then what the lion BEFORE sin?

you must remember that God created the earth and all that was on it was to be subjected to man, however the fall of man caused the whole creation to relapse into chaos, even the animals and insects became wild and unresponsive to the order of creation, but when Christ returns and restores all things as they must be then order will be restord as well.

First, God did not create the lion directly. The lion is the descendent of an original big cat kind. Tigers and lions, for example can interbreed and are specialised (devolved if you like) big cats.
Second all the animals where originally vegetarian. Sharp teeth does not mean meat-eater. Look at Panda bears for example.
Also, there is an example of a lion that did not eat meat!

That's a really good question. I'm assuming that the lion was to be peaceful but sin and satin have made it the ferocious beast it is. I think you're taking it a little literal. It's not really about it's diet as much as saying god created man to be good and kind but satin caused him to be all the negative things we find in human beings today.

I got a good answer about that to a similar question. It was by Mark Twain about Eve helping a lion in the garden of Eden that was choking on a head of lettuce and when she looked in it's mouth she saw it had teeth designed for eating meat.

I never have figured that one out,it makes no sense. Why did God create an animal with teeth specially designed for killing and rending flesh if he didn't intend for it to eat flesh. Apparently early lions had very short lifespans, since if they couldn't eat meat they who die pretty soon after they were weaned, but that doesn't work either,oh crap now I'm confused never mind.

... Yes, because clearly the lion's digestive tract, wickedly sharp claws, razor teeth and jaws that can snap bones like twigs are NOT designed for killing and eating meat.

It is a PREDATOR. Sin or whatever has nothing to do with the reason it kills. e.e
