I have a chest cold with a moderate wet cough and due to a medical condition I can't really take any cough medicine. What can I do to make it go away faster. I've been drinking a lot of herbal teas, taking zicam and throat lozengers. I've also made it a point to wash my hands often. Is a hot bath good for a chest cold?

A hot bath will help with the drainage. Zinc is a good supplement to take. Plenty of water to keep the blood filtering the cold out of your system. If you start coughing up yellow or green phlem then you have an infection and needs to be treated with antibiotics

Steam shower. Don't sit inside the shower or you'll get burned. Roll up towels to block off the bottom of the door to trap all of the steam in. Turn it on completely hot water and turn the shower on to produce the best amount of steam. Sit in there for 15-20 minutes. Also a humidifier with liquid Vick's (MADE FOR STEAMERS, regular Vicks added will make you sick. My Mom made that mistake with us and we all ended up in the ER) will also help. They also have plug-ins with a mentholyptus insert that can help as well. Good luck!

Hot shower or bath puts vapor in the air, allowing you to cough easier. It makes the coughs "juicier". Also, get lots of sleep and drink Orange Juice.
