There is a theory that lip balm may actually cause problems. By retaining excessive moisture in your lips you may actually be getting an overgrowth of certain microorganisms particularly fungi. Stop using the balm completely for a couple of weeks, and try to avoid licking you lips and see if the problems goes away.
Also if you are a smoker, quit. Smoking certainly can contribute to this problem too.

Benefit used to do Lipscription I'm sure they still do. I used that it really helped, I get really sore lips in the winter. I've also used Blistex stuff that was brilliant can't remember what it was called but it was in a little white pot with red writing on from boots. It worked wonders and was cheaper than Benefit. I always found ordinary lip balm never worked for me.

Try drinking more fluids, and this may help. If not ask at your local pharmacy counter, or your doctor if needs be. Lips don't have the protection of body oils that the rest of the skin has so dries out quicker. Try using vaseline. However, somepeople claim that you can become physically reliant on lip balm after extended use.

Hypromellose eye drops! Yes I know it sounds daft but is used in intensive care on babies lips as it attracts and holds moisture. It does not have a taste and you can't see it once applied. My sister used this after having some nasty medication which caused her lips to crack and bleed - it really helped her alot! Try it it only cost about 80pence. Good Luck xx

Neutrogena Instant Lip Remedy, available in most large drugstores for about $3-4. It is made by Norwegians and they have the worst weather and the highest standard of living. It does not sting! Works on the spot. I discovered this a few weeks ago and its has been a godsend. Cheers!

Vaseline always works wonders for dry lips. Plus make sure you drink plenty as dehydration will exacerbate the problem. Merry Christmas.xx

I have "Aquafor" or something like that. Also, don't lick your lips or wipe them constantly
