the funny bone anatomical term is the humerus bone

I suspect the funny bone is called the funny bone because the bone in your arm (between your shoulder and elbow) is the humerus. Get it?

Any way the the thing that you bang in your elbow that hurt like ach ee double hockey sticks is actually the ulnar nerve.

On balance, sharp, witty reparti and banter. And fortunately there's a lot of it about - especially amongst SCs. A day rarely passes in our local village store, without some amusing exchanges. But some ARE unintended. The store now has a sign which solemly states: NOTICE Flour and eggs will not be sold on 30 and 31 October 2012 to anyone under age 16 HAVE FUN BUT RESPECT OTHERS. I kid you not ! A few of us old'uns giggled about whether it meant our local feral yoofs were too dim to read - or buy their Halloween trick/treat stocks on 29 October - or it was another case of 'serious' attempts to assist, by 'management' on the borders of sheer lunacy. : )))
