What a good question. Look at everything in the New Testament about helping the poor, about how the rich are not getting in to the Kingdom of Heaven, and yet we do indeed have grand, glorious churches and rich people driving around in big expensive cars with presumptuous crosses and "Christian" bumper stickers. Its absurd. I think its all because of the pastors, I think they are mostly a bunch of crooks who know well that poor people make poor tithers, so they attract the wealthy and assuage their guilt, telling them they can buy their way into heaven, buy absolution for their sins. Worse, a lot of these pastors are self decieved, they believe in the bilge they pump out even tho it is absolutely opposite to everything Jesus ever said.

if giving up your only son to die a horrible death on a cross while being mocked and spit on is selfish, then yes he is. The millions of dollars that churches generate are supposed to be used to win people to Jesus but I see what you mean. I agree with the fact that some churches are a little extravagant and probably do not spend the tithes in the way that God would like them to. I would suggest prayer - ask God to lead you to a good church that does not do this.

Np. The churches and the millions were built by the religious authorities, using the name of God for more power and more money.
God is not selfish. An idea, a dream, a wishful thinking is not selfish. Only the copyrighters who invented the term "god" can be selfish. God doesn't exist

No. He is not selfish. He owns everything and shares it with us all.
I think He is appalled with all some churches have horded. I mean how long could the hungry eat on the proceeds after a big yard sale at the Vatican? I do however believe that we should give our ten percent to Him and when we do make sure that who you give it to isn't hording or squandering and if you can afford it give to poor after you tithe.

Yeah, God's selfish..that's why He gave His only begotten Son to die on a cross. God gave everything for us..and you ask..is He selfish.
God never demanded lots and lots of money..but there are some organizations that have reached all over the world with the gospel and helped to feed the hungry because of the money and the churches.

No - God is not selfish, really. God is loving, caring, and generous. God is BIG and all-powerful....yet small, and simple.
There are times when God calls us to be simple...to just stop and listen....pray....sing...whatever.
Then there are time God calls us to make a GRAND statement and to come together in a BIG way to worship him and serve him.
Above all, God wants us to worship him only (not a big church or a small country church building, or a storefront church). God wants us to be involved in a community of believers...if 5 or 5000. So, there is no formula for big or small. Just God centered and focused on His call to serve His people.
Ok?

Absolutely. These fancy churches are for our benefit. Not Gods.
I'm sure He would rather see the money go to helping people. That was the point of the Tithe.

According to the Bible, God is a very selfish "and jealous" being because It "wants no strange gods before him" and its sinful to love anything more than God.

God is not selfish, nothing is too good for him, people who truly believe in him want to give him the best they can. In my church, 10% of everything we make is given to help the poor, then we give some money to help make our churches and temples better. I already give to the poor, so i love giving back to God, he already gave me so much.

God is compassionate. It creates circumstances according to ones own deeds, so that person could tread forward in ones spiritual quest. Which is the ultimate goal of being in human garb. Its been a journey life after life. Under free will one make his own choices, which entangles one.
