In what way is saying "I'm going to believe this even though it isn't based upon any factual evidence at all and nothing is ever going to make me change my mind no matter how stupid it makes me look." That isn't a good thing. That is just going to make you ignorant of the world and so limit your understanding of it. Anyone with faith I encourage you to throw it aside and see the world how it real is. You never know you mite like it. I know I do.

In my professional life I deal with a lot of people in suicidal crises. Often the only thing that is keeping them from taking their lives is their faith. I've seen too many people draw strength from their faith, whatever it may be, to dismiss it as stupid or ignorant.

So, yes, in some situations faith is a good thing, and I personally believe that faith and religion are generally a good thing, doing good works in Third World countries, and right here in our inner cities, feeding the hungry and so on. Now that I think of it, the only food banks and soup kitchens in my city are all operated by a religious order. I'm pretty sure that the work that they do IS a good thing.

That's the beauty of faith, you can't understand it, until you have it.
Look around you the evidence of His existence is everywhere, right down to the beating of your heart or the breath you just took while reading this.
It's all about design, unless you believe in evolution which by the way isn't based on any factual evidence.
But people say I am going to believe this and nothing is ever going to change my mind.
My faith in Jesus sustains me in a ever increasing evil world, I will never throw it aside.

Everyone has faith, even you. You have faith in the world as you state above and in the knowledge of yourself or in mankind. Now consider the knowledge of man and the ways of the world, they talk of peace but in truth it's man that in controlling, greedy, self-centered, bitter, angry, fearful, they can be loving, kind to mankind's idea. All wars are because of mankind, all because they have faith that their way/s are the right ways.
However, the faith in the One True God is that He is and that He is a re-warder of those that believe in Him. He is complete love and that means He even loves you, that He has chosen you even though you so far haven't chosen Him. He has plans for a future for you, plans to give you a good future and hope for your life for good and not evil. He loves you so very much that His Son Jesus [even history declares him] to come and pay a debt you owed so you could have peace right now, you could have love and be with out fear right now, so you could have an inheritance right now. the question is do you want it? Will you be bold enough to try Him, just ask Jesus to come into your heart right now. Try Jesus, He is awesome, the best friend you will ever have in your life. {-:

Do you think you will wake up tomorrow? If you do you have faith. You cant see tomorrow, but you know it will come, right? That is faith. And it is based on factual evidence. If you would read the BIBLE you would know that there have been hundreds of prophesies that have already been fulfilled, and there are prophesies being fulfilled as we speak, just take a look at what is going on in the middle east right now!

yeah...i hate to say this-but if you think that people who have "faith" (meaning faith in God, Allah, the Self, Nature, etc) are ignorant of the world, you my dear must have a small mind. faith can give people hope. faith can help people cope with life. many people in the world have a "faith" of some sort. for you to write,"Anyone with faith I encourage you to throw it aside and see the world how it real is," I call BS on that. You just want everyone to see the world how YOU see it. No thanks.

I dont think faith is necessarily the problem. There is nothing wrong with having faith in anything. The problem with faith only occurs when it is based on religion and is fanatical. In my opinion, religion is to blame for the wars and other world problems. It is when one faith believes it is the right and only one and whomever does not agree with them are evil sinners that faith becomes a problem.

Do you know that the definition of faith is trust. What is wrong with trusting the Lord to see you through this Life? Before I came to know the Lord life was a much scarier and lonely place for me. Is there some reason my peace and joy bother you? I can honestly say I only wish the best for you.

Ignoring your "rant" and sticking to your question, for me, faith is a source of comfort. I have a scientific, analytical mind and cold hard facts sometimes just don't offer any emotional support. It doesn't make me any less aware of the reality of the world - in fact, I think I appreciate it more because of my faith.

some people are so scared about what is going to happen when they die, that they believe in God so they don't have to worry about dying. the rules that christians live by are actually excellent rules to have for a society, it cuts down on killing, stealing, etc., so i think christianity is a good thing. unless u want to be a communist and have absolutely no reason to not kill or hurt someone, i think u are the ingnorant one. u need to look at the big picture, but u can't see the forest for the trees.

Faith provides required courage. Scriptures help to some extent. Thereafter its a matter of direct experiences.
