I would think these two groups would always be going at it tooth and nail. One believes there is no God and one believes there is but chooses not to worship it. Each side, give me your best argument on why you are right.

Because neither atheists nor agnostics claim that they know the perfect truth, as opposed to the major religions, which not only claim that, but that each other religion is false.

I am agnostic, meaning I don't know if there IS a God. It's not that I think there is a God and choose not to worship. I try not to even argue with Christians, so why would I argue with Atheists? Arguments get you nowhere. I am right, because I try to accept people for what they are, period. Whether you believe there is a God, or there isn't, or even if you just don't know, acceptance of other people and their beliefs is what is important.

"one believes there is but chooses not to worship it" That is a totally wrong definition of agnosticism. Agnosticism holds that it is impossible to know whether there is a god or not. It's a question that has no answer or is unknowable. Now, an apatheist might be closer to what you are talking about. But not really...apatheists say I don't know if there is a god and I don't care.

Ah... no. Agnostics believe that the existence of a deity is neither knowable or unknowable. To an agnostic, the question, "Is there a god?" is as meaningless as "What color is the smell of the other side of this here mobius loop?"

Mutual respect. As Michael wrote, neither insists that it has the monopoly on truth, so there's no need for conflict.

And your definitions are wrong. The atheist holds that there are no supernatural beings. The agnostic holds that it is impossible to know whether supernatural beings exist.
