I know I am gonna be yelled at alot for this, but I dont think religeon should be in public so much.
So much is based on religeon, that if you dont believe in god, you usually still find your self talking about god. such as "oh my god" i say this quite often, even though I am atheist.
Also, on common things, such as a dollar bill, it says in god we trust. It is almost like religeon is being forced upon us.
Does anyone else feel this way?

The problem that people don't realise is that a lot of that was added in the 1960's not back when this nation first started. I agree that religion should be seperated from state. If they are going to include religion, then include all religions, even the ones that they are not particularily thrilled about, such as Santaria.

It's pure common sense to realize that 2 of every animal would not have fit on a boat made by a man that long ago with limited technology and tools. That's just for starters. David Blane will do some street magic and we all say, "Wow, cool trick", but people wrote in a book that Jesus turned water into wine thousands of years ago and we say, "Wow, what a miracle".
Those that "believe" are scared of dying and need some security. They feel the need to push it on others because that is how religion is designed, "Gather more, give money to the church (because God must really need money) and get more people to give money. Then you will be saved from eternal damnation".
Sounds silly when you say it out loud, but that is why it's pushed on us. I say we push back.

i felt that way but it just shows you that some people are trying to up their religions or they are keeping old ways such as the dollar bill. by having a religion out there so much it starts becoming more needy and materialistic. I feel that the religions that do this do it because they feel that they are 100 percent the right religion and everyone should be like them. while the religions that don't let it all out everywhere have more meaning to themselves because they want you to become like them by choice not because of propaganda. so yes it is overbearing but just think atheist, Jews, Muslim and so on don't do that so they might be considered purer people in this case.

Religion? That is a very basic word, and, seeing how you've spelled it like that several times it is not simply a 'slip-up', you don't know how to spell. Also alot....is a lot. Not trying to be a grammar nazi, but for the love of Christmas...!!!
Ok. My opinion is that this country needs to embrace diversity. God or no god are two different beliefs...neither is particularly bad or good, but just beliefs. I think God should be taken off bills as how would believers feel if it said 'In no god we trust.' It just seems a little silly. Religion and state should be seperate, but not to the point where we infringe on the religous right to practice, as long as they don't infringe on the non-religous people's right not to practice.
A nice little balance where everyone's supposed to be somewhat happy. There's democracy for you.

Say what you want
The U.S. was founded as a Christian Nation.......
Even many of the monuments in Washington have scriptures printed on them
The Washington Monument has one all the way on top of it
The Supreme Courts Justices set in front of a large carving of Moses holding the Ten Commandments
God told us...." Go into all the world and preach the gospel"
Should it be in public?......sure it should.
And our leaders are going to be punished for trying to remove it from the public.
Also...if YOU are one of those trying to remove it.....you are in effect censoring Christians..........what about OUR free speech?
The fact is....you don't have to read it, to listen to it or anything else for that matter, but you have no right to censor us.
Did you know that over 80% of Americans claim to be Christian? And well over 90% believe in God ( U.S. Government stats)
So....you are in the minority by far......but we don't try to silence you.
We may try to convert you !......But again, don't respond or don't listen, DO respond and DO listen....your choice
You have a Merry Christmas

Unfortunately, this country was founded by people in need of escape from religious persecution and in doing so, they built a nation where they ended up persecuting those who did not believe in the religion they brought with them. Rather ridiculous, I'd say.

Kinda Sorta...i don't have a problem with the dollar bill and pledge having "God" on/in it...but i do have a problem with religious people forcing their OPINION on people who CHOOSE to not be religious. I believe in a higher power. Thats it. I don't practice anything or preach to anything. I think as far as the "in god we trust" statement, thats fine. Its a united symbol of a higher power that this country has choosen to form.

Religion should be removed from all public places and restricted to places of worship (which should vary clearly say that religion is based on faith and not fact that it is simply an unfounded opinion) and the home. Say no to jesus
