My Daughter had excema it's not that bad as you see on the internet. It's really a mild case. We are using Locoid Lipocream for Flare ups. Bathing in Cedaphil and using Cedaphil Lotions. We have a humidifier going as well in her room to help moisturize her air at least 8hrs a day while she sleeps and plays!! Does the water she drink help put moisture back into her skin?

Drinking a lot of water is O.K. but it does not help your eczema. Sweating is good. That's why eczema is not so acute in warm climates. It's the loss of natural oils that causes skin eruptions and washing often with harsh cleansing soaps, wash away the sweat but also the natural oils your skin needs. Nana has the best answer except if you wash your children so much you aught to get some "oatmeal soap" its better than dove if you are gonna wash your kids all the time. If you don't wash your kids so much there skin will be healthier but; granted, a bit smellier...

My son also has excema. After going to many doctors including dermotologists i've not heard anything about drinking water (though it definetly couldn't hurt). He does get a pretty bad case and we get steriod creams from the doctor. I think the best advice I've gotten is to use shortening on the skin instead of lotion. You get 5x's as much for about $3 compared to the tubs of eucerin and it's a lot easier to spread. When he breaks out badly I wrap him in plastic wrap (loosely you don't want to cut off blood flow). Leave it on for about a couple hours. It helps keep the lotion from rubbing off and helps trap body heat in which makes it easier for the skin to absorb the "lotion". Now obviously the plastic should only be used on legs arms or the the trunk of the body. Just felt I should say that plastic wrap could be a choking hazard. I like to put my husbands socks to cover the wrap so my son doesn't tug it off. Good luck with any treatments you try. Excema has been a long hard battle for us.

Most Children born in the winter months have eczema.
Fish Oil, drink water, keep the rooms moist, a cool mist humidifier, avoid dry heat or forced hot air, shield the body of cold dry winds when outside, baths should be with bath oil beads and special soaps that are moist like Oatemeal bath.

my niece was born with this she uses eucerin creams. she also has her cloths washed in a non allergenic laundry soap free of dyes and stuff. we've also found that too much sugar aggravates it also makes her hyper not sure if the two are related or not. do not use lotions with perfumes in them or bubble baths. everything she uses needs to be special. oh Dove, the white one for sensitive skin is what my niece uses to wash with. and check her shampoos too. winter weather will make it worse so make sure she has lots of the eucerin cream on hand, it's expensive but so worth it.

Water is great for the body... hydration is important on a cellular level, but too much just makes you pee.

Best Wishes... you sound like you have things under control.

Extra water probably won't help, it'll just make her pee more. I've been using Lansinoh lanolin cream on my son, and it seems to be helping a lot.

YES!! LET HER DRINK AS MUCH WATER AS SHE CAN HANDLE. IT WILL HYDRATE HER SKIN, PLUS IT IS ALSO GOOD FOR HER. ME AND MY DAUGHTER BOTH HAVE IT, IT SEEMS LIKE EVERYTHING YOU ARE DOING IS CORRECT.
