The concept, "Who is God" clears all ambiguities about God Almighty-
Who is God?
God Almighty... a cluster of pure energy is but the sum total of all souls (atmans) in the cosmos at a given point of time. The essence of every soul (atman) being the same as God Almighty... every soul is but a minuscule God in its entity.
The moment the big bang occurs... all souls (atmans) existing in the Cosmos spread all over the cosmos with unimaginable speeds. The magnitude and the scale of the big bang are beyond the comprehension of the human beings to visualize. Nothing that exists in the cosmos in energy form can be visualized by the help of the senses and the mind.
This explosion of the big bang results in creation of a new cosmos... a new beginning! After billions of years when some planets become suitable for giving birth to life... the souls start manifesting body after another. And a planet like Mother Earth is born.
Now... what is this big bang theory! The big bang occurs in what! As has been defined above... the definition of God is, "the sum total of all purified souls atmans in the cosmos at a given point of time is what we know as God Almighty".
This cluster of pure energy we know as God accumulates in its absolute pure state only when the dissolution of the Cosmos occurs in its entirety. It is as if a huge cauldron of fire... a massive black hole has reduced the whole of the Cosmos to the size of half a thumb. It is this stage when every single soul atman in the Cosmos in whatever stage of life it may be liberates after gaining enlightenment and salvation. There is just no escape for the collapse of the whole of Cosmos has occurred.
As has been expressed by Mahavira, the 24th Tirthankara of Jainism that souls atmans in whatever stage of life they may be... continue their journey into the next Cosmos exactly from the point where they stood in the earlier manifestation is totally wrong. This is where the teachings of Jainism are flawed.
Bhagavad Gita... the sacred doctrine of Lord Krishna distinctly clarifies this point. And it is logical that when the collapse of the entire cosmos occurs... the question of souls remaining in their position as such and transitioning into the next Cosmos after the big bang occurs is but a flawed parable that defies all reasoning and logic.
The point of difference where Mahavira went wrong in understanding the teachings of Bhagavad Gita! The reason why Jainism branched into a new thinking pattern as advocated and doctored by Bhagwan Mahavira (the 24th and last Tirthankara of Jainism) is evidenced here.
This cluster of pure energy... the sum total of all purified atmans in the Cosmos equals half the size of a thumb as has been clearly spelt out in the Bhagavad Gita... the most sacred doctrine put forward by Lord Krishna in the battlefield of Mahabharata.
Unable to contain itself for long... this enormous source of pure energy explodes with a big bang giving birth to a new cosmos... a new journey! God Almighty is the source and the cause of the big bang. This theory of creationism is unpalatable by Scientists all over the world. Why? Science demands proofs and in the kingdom of God... it is absolute faith (in the system of God) that rules.
To be able to visualize the system of God... the kingdom of God with the help of the senses and the mind is being hypothetical. It is just not possible! The prime reason why the kingdom of God and God Almighty himself is beyond the capture of all scientists of the world!
Albert Einstein was the only scientist in the world who tried studying Bhagavad Gita at the fag end of his life. He deeply regretted and resented not having ventured into the study of Bhagavad Gita in the earlier stages of his life. In a nutshell... the domain of God starts where science ends. This is in brief the definition of God Almighty!
If a grain of sand is an individual soul atman... the whole mound of sand is Parmatman (Almighty God). If a single block of the puzzle is an individual soul atman... the whole completed puzzle is God Almighty himself in its fully magnificence and cosmic glory. That is actually a very good question, but I don't think that God actually said outright to the Jews that He was the only God and that there were no others.
I think He cleverly omitted that fact to the Jews to leave plenty of room for the role of faith, just like there is not an overwhelming amount of proof that He created humanity from dust, so that His followers would have to have faith in His Word.

Yes. The Bible says there are many gods and many lords. 1 Cor. 8:5 But Jesus called his Father, Jehovah, the ONLY TRUE God. John 17:3; Ps. 83:18

He didn't say they don't exist, otherwise you couldn't bow down to them.
He said they aren't true Gods, because they do not have any power.
1 Cor 8:4 Now concerning the eating of foods offered to idols, we know that an idol is nothing in the world, and that there is no God but one. 5 For even though there are those who are called “gods,” whether in heaven or on earth, just as there are many “gods” and many “lords,” 6 there is actually to us one God the Father, out of whom all things are, and we for him; and there is one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom all things are, and we through him.
Side point, Lord in Ex. 20, is really Jehovah or Yahweh.
Lord is a mis translation. It would be the same as saying "man" is the english translation of "Juan"

It's clear from creation/law-giving books of the bible (which were written quite a bit later than other OT books) that there were other "gods" thought to be in existence. Later on Jehovah morphed into a solitary god.
The Yahweh/Jehovah/Allah character once was part of a hierarchy of gods, but he was honored in particular because he was in charge of storms and rain - vital to the survival of a desert people. Later Yahweh replaced Ra the Egyptian sun god, thanks to the Atenist priest Moses, at which time his image was updated to a brutal war god. That was when he was elevated to solitary "God" status by the Jews so that they could organize an army and take land, property and slaves for themselves, and claim a divine right to commit atrocities in the name of their 'God'.
The idea that the "us" in Genesis is a reference to "the holy trinity" is certainly ludicrous on the surface of it. Angels and/or other gods and godlings, maybe, but certainly not "the trinity".

From a reputable source:
Examples of texts that demonstrate an implicit assumption of multiple gods: Exod 15.11; 18.11; 20.3; 23.24; Num 25.2; Deut 10.17; Josh 24.15; 1 Kgs 11.2-10; 2 Kgs 17.31
Examples of texts that claim (usually polemically) monotheism: Deut 4.28 (but cf. 5.7); 6.4; Ps 96.5; Isa 42.17
The point is, as even some theologians, especially in the Catholic tradition, have pointed out: early Hebrew culture didn't behave as if there WERE only one god.
See also Hector Avalos on the various gross mis-interpretations of the Hebrew texts to make them fit in more neatly with the "they-always-had-one-god" theory.

Read the rest of the Bible where it is explained that man chooses to follow idols of clay and images of animals, or his/her own lust. Start with Romans 1" 18-32. Then go back to the beginning and actually READ what the Bible has to say, for a change.

Yes, God does say He is the only God. He describes the other idols as wood and stone only and warns the people repeatedly throughout the Bible not to worship them. He repeatedly refers to them as false Gods. God is worthy of worship and praise, not the things God created for man. To worship wood, stone, animals, and elements is a direct and willful snub against God, and God will not tolerate it, as He spells it out throughout the Bible.
As for the use of "us" and "we," the Christian God is a tri-une God. God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. Three distinct entities that support God's omnipotence and omnipresence, but still one God.

I believe that historians tell us that each nation had it's own god or gods. Not that they didn't believe in other nations gods; they just hoped that their god was more powerful. When that's the case, people can smite their enemies as God told Moses. In the first commandment, God says, "thou shalt not have strange gods before me." If there weren't other gods, what is the point of saying, "before me"?

A god is anyone or any thing that you decide to worship. Worship is the act of doing what you believe your god wants you to do. So yes, there are other gods, people decide who they are going to obey, most of the time we are our own gods.
In reality, there is only ONE GOD! One true God who created the universe and He gets to decide what goes and what stays.
