My sister was actually on the gatorade research team a yr. b 4 it came out. When it comes to sports and other dehydrating activities water and gatorade are the best. I know on the commercials it says gatorade is better that's just a propaganda stunt. Either one will refuel just as good as the other. But if you're not active at a certain time and you're the thirst drink water

Gatorade is good during atheletic games as you are perspiring and the salt and water needs to be replenished in your body. However you then want to drink water after the event as Gatorade is loaded with sodium which you don't need for rehydrating. Stick to water at this point.

Also if you drink lots of gatorade realize that it will eventually help dehydrate you...so mix when you play sports with water too and drink water before the event to go into it properly hydrated to prevent cramping.

I heard this from the mouth of one of my preceptors, a sports medicine MD. He said that when exercising, drink one gatorade, then one water(basically equal amounts). It is important to replace electrolytes lost during strenuous exercise, but it is also important to get pure water, so you don't overload your body with too many electrolytes and sugar. If you are just sitting on the couch, I would say water, since all the sugar in gatorade can make you gain some weight if you are physically inactive.

Gatorade does replenish the body of certain things. However, it contains sugar and other items. Water is the ultimate thirst quencher and body purifier.

I will however, concede that for most sports, Gatorade would be a good first drink, followed by water.

Gatorade is better during sports. Water is best for drinking all the time though.

I like water better because it doesn't contain sugar like Gatorade does. Could try the vitamin water as well.

Water is great for you it keeps you hydrated and doesn't dehydrate you. Now Gatorade is packed full of more sugar than whats in most sodas and takes away water from your body and can give you head-aches. So drink water

For sports, Gatorade is better. When you sweat, you don't just lose water, but you lose electrolytes as well. Gatorade replaces them and the water that you've lost, but in a normal day, water is better for drinking.

While Gatorade may quench your thirst, it's full of sugars. Stick with water. Besides water is cheaper.
