There are 1.5 ounces in a shot. There are 64 ounces in a half gallon. So there are 42.6666667 shots in a half gallon or about 42 1/2 shots in a half gallon.

Since there are no half gallons, I assume you mean 1.75 litre bottle. I think there are 67.5 ounces in a 1.75 litre so there would be 67.5 shots.
