You just said that he was the father. Don't get all "goody-goody" here because you got pregnant when you weren't married so are not exactly perfect! And if he wants a DNA test then obviously you slept around as well. That is not important. The important thing is that one day your child will want to know who his/her father is and will HATE YOU for not putting him on the birth certificate. you are very selfish and not thinking of the child nor his future. Even if the father was a criminal, it is the upbringing that will matter in the child's life. If you are a good mother, he will love you and will make up his own mind about the father. What if your child is injured or is really clever and either way needs some extra financial support in ten years. And what if the father has a great income and can help. Pretty cruel to then put your child through DNA testing, embarrassment in order to get support! Are you worried that the father would be able to take your child away from you? Not possible if you're a good mother. Grow up! Acknowledge the father legally and then focus on being a good parent.

Yes he can. He can bring a paternity action against you in court and if the child is his you'll likely end up have to pay the $500 for the test--especially b/c you could just admit it and forgo the test. Then, the Court will order his name to be put on the birth cert.

In any event, if you want child support from the father you will have to have a paternity action brought.

You refer to him as the father obviously things you do or say make him doubt this, especially the fact that he is not on the birth certificate.

Why don't you want him to have a DNA test, is it because you know that he is not the child's father?

If you are on benefit and the Child Support Agency require him to pay for the child, the 'father' needs to know that he is the father. If you have told the benefit office that this man is the father they can demand that you have the DNA test otherwise your benefit can be stopped.

As for your childs father, he cant force you to have it done. But why on earth wouldn't you have it done?

If he is the father to your child, why isn't he on the birth certificate? You need to have the DNA test done for your childs future.
You have got to think of the child and believe me, the child does need contact with the father, my father died before I got the chance to make peace with him and I have lived the whole of my life feeling let down and very rejected by my dad and it is the worst feeling in the world. Justice for Dads keep up the protests!!

When it comes to questions of paternity, some states only require testing when financial responsibility is involved - that is, child support.
Others, though, will require a DNA test if the male questions whether it's his biological kid or not, because once that baby is born, the natural father has rights too!
If it is his kid, then you may have to put up with him being in that kid's life for eighteen long years.
Good luck!!!

If it's about child support he can refuse to pay until a test is done. I think that a court order could possibly be made but I'm not too sure. The thing is if the child is his they will charge him a lot for this. I'm not passing judgement just giving fact here, if he turns out not to be he doesn't have to pay. I do think it's quite expensive though.

I'm laughing at the number of contradictory answers. Unless someone is a lawyer, we don't really know.

I *think* a judge could order the test of your child, though, in the event he sues for parental rights. It's the only way to prove if he's the father, so the courts would likely be willing to order the test.

If you want him to pay child support and he denies being the father, then yes there will need to be a paternity test before the state can force him to pay. Why would you have a problem with him wanting to know for sure if this child is his?

i think of you basically responded your guy or woman question. A courtroom ordered DNA attempt ability the courts are forcing you to get the attempt executed. The courts are unlikely to concern the courtroom order for the attempt, however, until there's a very good reason. purely because of the fact somebody else could choose them to does not mean they'll. that somebody else will could tutor in all likelihood reason why he believes the attempt desires to be executed.
