wow i`d like to help i have a 5 yo pomp they are a really smart dog, mine will not go around the yard he has to go away from where we hang out, i suggest, just keep working with him & yes you can put his or her nose in it when it goes inside not rough but just to let him know its wrong, & take the dog for walks away from your home, how old is your pomp? he is just nervous maybe cuz of the new home, pomps are very loyal & like to please, with patience you will be fine, e-mail me if you need more help, good luck

Poms can be hard to housebreak.
Makes usre the dog is kenneled when you are not watching him.
If he pees in the house get after him and let him know you are not going to tolerate that type of behavior.
He should pick up quickly as he has control of his bladder and once he knows it is not the right thing to do you should be good to go.
As for the smell, have you looked at his teeth. Sometimes if their teeth are really dirty they stink and a teeth cleaning will fix it right now.
You should have a vet check over the dog just to be sure everything is ok and all the shots and such are current.
Have fun with your new pet.

He's probably stressed and having trouble adjusting. Also, dogs have trouble generalizing, which means that even if he learned not to pee in THEIR house, it doesn't mean he understands not to pee in YOUR house.

Instead of getting upset with him, pretend he's NOT housebroken and train him all over again from the beginning. It should go easier than with a puppy because he has better bladder control.

When I'm grooming a dog professionally, I thoroughly wash a dog TWICE, right down to the skin, and rinse completely. Usually one wash isn't enough. If that doesn't work, first have him checked for skin problems, and if he's okay you can use a strong scented shampoo (like LaPooch) and/or doggy cologne.

was the decision last minute? Were your neighbors trusted? Dogs are usually shy and nervous when they arrive at a new place. They don't know their new surroundings, so they "go" all over the place.
