Go to the financial aid office of your local college and explain your situation. They will be able to tell you what to do. If you have a good reason for being out of contact with your parents, the college can help you be reclassified as an independent student (unless, of course, your parents are still claiming you as a dependent but if you don't live with them and all, they shouldn't be able to). I went through this myself and was declared independent.

you could not use your aunt's suggestions. FAFSA does not understand criminal guardians until they have legally accompanied you. you could touch the college you're making plans to attend and ask them in case you're able to do an autonomous attraction. some faculties will enable this in extreme situations. you will could grant a a brilliant number of records that could tutor your father is deceased and which you haven't any touch including your mom.

Ok, you can't file as an independent student b/c you can contact your parents. You chose not to. ask them for the information, please.

Oh yeah, the girl who file herself on fafsa as an independent will be audited, if she didn't file correctly

IF you haven't been in contact with your parents, I doubt you are their dependent. In that case, you do not need any of your parents' information. Did you file your taxes as an independent?

If they don't support you, you are not their dependent. File as independent, i.e. you will have to give your own income info, etc.
