They are given 10 or 15 dollars and a one way ticket to where ever they can find a place to live. They are not helped much at all. And for all you who think they don't need help think about why the prison numbers are sky rocketing. A favorite term of inmates is "three hots and a cot". To some it beats starving on the streets. My son was in prison, he told me some people actually went to prison so they could get an education.

I must agree with the poster above "tigerlilli...". Prisoners aren't given much opportunity once released. They given more than 10 dollars, more around 50. But this is the reason recidivism is so high because it is hard to get back on your feet when you have nowhere to go. Then also there is a duty on the people being released to help their situation. Alot of the ones that are released don't take advantage of the programs such as half-way houses.

This depends on the terms of their release. Some may require that they have family, or friends to stay with, some are just released out right and it is up to them when they live.

It depens on what they were in for. They might go to rehab if they are drug addicted/alcoholic. If not and just on straight parole.....then they usually go home to family.
