I have a 7 month old great dane and he is a very picky eater, I also bought his sister and she will eat everything as fast as posible.
I noticed if I feed him by himself with my hand he will eat but not out of a bowl, He always lets his sister eat first then he eats.

It's normal at that age. When he's hungry, he'll eat, don't fuss at him.

Young males are often skinny, too. Don't worry unless he shows signs of being unhealthy.

Some dogs in general are picky eaters. My rottie as a puppy was a horrible eater. Finally, in desperation, I took him to the pet store and walked him up and down the food aisles. When he found a bag he couldn't stop licking, I knew we had a winner. After that he ate like a champ. Now I feed both my great dane and my rottie a raw diet and they both love it.

Elevated food bowls are a must for a great dane. Elevated food bowls make it easier for them to eat, and also reduce the amount of air in the belly, which reduces their gas.

I always seperate my dogs to eat. Give them each their amount of food and 30 min to eat. If your boy hasn't eaten his food by then, just take it away and offer it to him at the next meal time. He will eat when he's hungry. Also, it sounds like the female dane is the more dominant dog, and he may not be eating as much as a sign of submission. By seperating the dogs for meals you can avoid this problem.

Please see a vet. Great Danes are prone to having irritable stomachs and being picky eaters, and there is a rare condition that can be treated with a special diet.

The Three Dog Bakery actually got it;s start from one of the owners having a Dane that wouldn't eat, and it could have starved. He had to cook very special food for this dog, and when he found the right recipe for Gracie, he ended up making a business of it.

There can be help for your Dane. He might need a special diet, and things will be fine.

HAVE you tried using a RAISED BOWL for your dogs? bending down to the floor to eat can be very hard to large breed dogs, putting their bowls on a raised stand makes it easier for them to swallow and is easier on their backs, necks and shoulders. Please consider this for both your Danes.

It could also be that the female is dominant. He would let her eat first.
