in islam is it permissable to read the quran in the english version?

i've heard it's permissable, but not as rewarding as it is to read in arabic, so will you still get rewarded at all for reading it in english?

Yes, probably.

Its not only permissible but recommended to read it in whatever you can understand (thats what I think).

But

There is a problem!!

Nothing written in one langugae can truely be translated in other language, you may know that!! One of my teachers used to say: "Words can translated into other languages but not feelings (emotions etc) that a peace of writing carries in its own language". I mean to say that quran as it is translated to many languages is the meaning of its words but it doesnt carry its originality.

The best way to understand the Holy Quran in its own language if possible.

if it's during praying and reciting the Quran, then it's suppose to be read in the language that God has spoke with (pure Arabic). but for explaning the verses and preaching then it's ok if it's read in english.
and the english translation of the Quran is never 100% accurate to the real meaning of the Quran.

Of course its permissible to read the English version because of the necessity to learn what it means . Its true the reward isn't as great as reading the actual Quran....but if you read the English transliteration of the Arabic text you'll get the full reward inshAllah. Allah rewards based on intention. If reading the arabic text is difficult for you to read and you continue to try to read it...Allah will reward you more for your efforts.

Hmm i guess yes coz we want to know what it means for those non arabic like i am. Seeking knowledge is encourage in Islam. But we can't read it and treat it 100% true when reading the translation. At least we get the pic that is important. The real word of God is in Arabic and a word can mean many things. So to me its ok if you want to read it translation on your own but we MUST not recite it in english or any other languages.

Well i have no clear idea about reward.but i think Arabic is mandatory to recite it for reward..but with understanding...and that understanding you can get from english translation.so once you learn the whole Quran , its best to read it in arabic....like we have to offer prayer in arabic and its not acceptible in other langues...same is for quran....its higly valued if you read it in arabic with meanings and understanding....only translation won't work but yes for learing the quran you should read the translation in whtever langue you want.

for translation yes there is no harm in reading a translation but i don't think u get the same rewars. Try to practise arabic recitation if not the meaning

but you better read some parts in arabic for better understanding 'cause interpreting arabic is not an easy job .

Yes you can. Many will say no, but i started reading it in English first. I couldn't read arabic, I thought my self to read it in arabic.
Many people can read the Quran in arabic but don't understand it.
